ETHDenver 2022 Recap
We had a blast at this year’s ETHDenver in the Mile High City!
Packed with determined #BUIDLers, a ton of swag, and long lines for some interesting talks, this year was one for the books.
Didn’t get a chance to make it? We’ve got you covered. Here are our key takeaways from this week-long web3 extravaganza.
Key Takeaways 🔑
Layer 2 Is All The Rage
It’s no surprise that developers are looking for ways around the prohibitively expensive mainnet transaction fees. Layer 2's like Polygon StarkNet, and Arbitrum offer projects a pathway to production without breaking the bank.
Ethereum 2.0 + Sharding
The much anticipated Ethereum 2.0 upgrade from it’s current Proof of Work style consensus to the more eco-friendly Proof of Stake mechanism is set to take place later this year. We’re excited to see what projects will do with quicker finality and higher throughput.
Bridging Layer 1's
Building bridges between various Layer 1 solutions (e.g. Solana, Avalanche) seems yet to be a solved problem. With the recent Wormhole attack, the decentralization and security guarantees of
proposed bridging mechanisms are under severe scrutiny.
Useful Talks 💬
There were a ton of interesting talks this year from key thinkers in the web3 space. We encourage you to check them all out. Here are a few that we thought were noteworthy.
- EVM-to-EVM Chain Bridges: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (Speaker: Martin Derka)
- Decentralizing Front-ends Now: Skynet, Homescreen, and More Secure dApps (Speaker: Daniel Helm)
- From PGAs to 1559 to ETH2 — How Everything (and Nothing) Changes With Gas Fees (Speaker: Matt Cutler)
What’s Next for Georacle? 🔥
This week was jam-packed with the bleeding edge of all things crypto!
The web3 community spoke and we listened. We’re looking forward to hitting the ground running and continuing to build a framework that puts developers first. Look for Georacle support on your favorite Layer 2 solution and keep an eye out for spatial queries on the new and improved Ethereum 2.0.
